DR MUTHAMBI
FAQ
All surgeries carry risks, and all risks and complications will be discussed with you before the surgery. Ask questions and understand and weigh the risks and benefits of the surgery that will be performed.
The benefits of surgery differ from surgery to surgery, some surgeries have short-term benefits and some have long-term benefits. The benefits of each individual surgery will be discussed with you in detail so you can make an informed decision.
Reasons to have surgery may vary from relieving or preventing pain to diagnosing a problem to improving body function. Dr. Muthambi will explain how the surgery is going to prevent and relieve pain and improve your overall body function. Ask as many questions as possible so that you can get clarity on the surgery.
You do not need a referral from another doctor to see Dr Muthambi. It is important to note that your medical scheme may require you to have a referral, and may not cover the consultation costs if you are not referred in the correct manner.
When you meet Dr Muthambi for your first consultation, Dr Muthambi will review your medical records and may request additional testing before making recommendations for surgery.
Dr Muthambi will discuss with you the outcome of the surgery, what to expect in the first few days following surgery, as well as in the weeks and months that follow. The typical length of time it takes for a full recovery to resume work and your everyday activities will also be discussed with you.
All out-of-hospital consultations are billed directly to you as the patient or main member. You are then free to claim the consultation fee back from your medical scheme subject to their scheme rates and rules.
In-hospital consultations and procedures are billed to your medical scheme. It is however important to note that your medical scheme may not cover certain aspects of your treatment and this will then become your responsibility to settle the outstanding balance. It is important that you are familiar with your specific medical scheme rates and rules as the settlement of all accounts remains that of the main member of the scheme.
